Terms of use
Ballot Box is a single-player game that runs entirely on your device. You may play it. You may not resell it or pass it off as your own. It is provided as it is, with no promise that it is perfect.
The short version
By installing or playing Ballot Box you agree to what is on this page. If you do not, do not install it. These terms are between you and Vibalyze OÜ, who make and publish the game. If you got the game from the App Store, Apple’s standard licensed application end user licence agreement also applies, and where the two differ, Apple’s terms govern your relationship with Apple.
Your licence
You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and play Ballot Box on devices you own or control, for your own entertainment.
You may not sell, rent, sublicense or redistribute the app; repackage it or ship a modified build; extract its writing, art or data and publish them as your own work; or reverse-engineer it except where that right cannot be excluded by law.
Everything else stays ours: the code, the writing, the design, the name and the look of it.
What you may do with your careers
Screenshots, screen recordings, streams and videos of your own careers are yours to post wherever you like, including monetised channels. No permission is needed and none has to be asked for. Sharing a seed so someone else can play the same career is exactly what seeds are for.
Two limits: do not present the game, or a recording of it, as something you made; and do not present it as a forecast, a poll or a statement about any real election, party or politician.
The game is fiction
Ballot Box is set in an invented country. Every politician, party, city, newspaper, company and event in it is invented. No real person, party, country or election appears in it, and none is referenced. Any resemblance to a real person or organisation is coincidental and unintended.
The game depicts things that happen in real politics, including corruption, bribery and scandal. That is depiction, not endorsement. The game takes no side in any real election, is not affiliated with or endorsed by any government, party or political organisation, and nothing in it is political, legal or financial advice. Its election results come from a game model and say nothing about how any real vote will go.
Age rating
Ballot Box is intended for players aged 12 and over. It contains infrequent mild references to mature themes, including political corruption and bribery, public scandal, a rumoured affair, and illness or death in office, plus infrequent mild references to alcohol. There is no sexual content, no graphic content, no profanity and no violence shown.
If you are a parent or guardian and you have a view on something in the game, please write to us — see Support.
Your save file
Your career is saved on your device and nowhere else. We have no copy of it and no way to recover it. Deleting the app, starting a new career, or a device problem will lose it, and we cannot restore it for you.
An update that changes the game’s writing can cause an existing career to be declined rather than reloaded, because the save works by replaying your choices. This is deliberate — the alternative is silently giving you a different career than the one you left. See Support.
No purchases
The game contains no in-app purchases, no advertising and no currency that can be bought. If the app itself is paid, that transaction is between you and Apple or Google under their terms, and refunds go through them.
Updates and availability
We may update the game, change its content, or stop distributing it, in any country. We will try not to break your save, and release notes will say when an update changes the event bank. An installed copy keeps working on your device regardless of whether the app stays listed.
No warranty
Ballot Box is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not promise it is free of bugs or that it will run on every device.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the game, including lost save data. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and if you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Estonia. If you are a consumer, you keep the protections of the mandatory law of the country you live in.
Changes
If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them, and the updated version applies to use of the game after that date.
