Reporting a bug
The most useful thing you can send is the seed. Every career is reproducible from its seed and difficulty, so with those the exact career you were playing can be replayed here and the bug seen directly.
The seed and difficulty are printed on the card at the end of a career. A screenshot of that card is perfect. If you have not finished the career, tell us roughly how far you had got (the office and the age on screen) and what you had just tapped.
Also helpful: your phone model and OS version, and a screenshot if something looked wrong rather than behaved wrong.
Playing somebody else’s career
On the start screen you can type a seed instead of letting the game pick one. With the same seed, the same difficulty and the same choices, you get the same career, election results included. That is how to race a friend to the top job from the same starting ward.
My career disappeared
There is one save at a time. Beginning a new career replaces the one before it, and that cannot be undone from inside the game.
A career can also be declined on purpose after an update. The save works by replaying your choices through the game’s writing, so if that writing has changed, the old list of choices would rebuild a different career rather than yours. The game refuses that instead of handing you a stranger’s. It is the right behaviour and it is still annoying; updates that change the event bank will be flagged in the release notes.
“The election was rigged”
It was not, but it can feel that way. Polls in Ballot Box are evidence, not promises: they carry noise, like real polls, and a 70% chance still loses three times in ten. The odds shown before a gamble are calculated from the same rules that decide the result, and nothing hidden is tilted against you. If a result looks impossible rather than unlucky, send the seed and it will be checked.
The game will not open, or opens to a black screen
Force-quit and reopen first. If it persists, reinstalling is safe to try but will delete your save — if you can still reach the end-of-career card, note the seed first. Then write in, with your phone model, and it will get looked at.
Content and age rating
Ballot Box is intended for players aged 12 and over. It deals with the ordinary mechanics of politics — elections, whips, expenses, bribery, corruption and public scandal, including rumours of an affair — honestly, but never graphically. There is no violence shown, no sexual content and no strong language.
If you think a specific event crosses a line, please say which one. Events have ids and they can be changed or removed in an update. That feedback is genuinely wanted.
Is this about a real country?
No. The country, its cities, its three parties (Lantern, Compass and Oak), its politicians and its newspapers are all invented. The game does not endorse any real party, candidate or policy, and it is not affiliated with any government or political organisation. If anything in it reads as a real person or party to you, tell us and it will be rewritten.
Refunds
The game has no in-app purchases, so there is nothing to refund from us. If you paid for the app itself, refunds are handled by Apple through reportaproblem.apple.com, or by Google through the Play Store — we cannot issue those, but we would like to know what went wrong.
Privacy and data requests
There is no data to request. The app collects nothing and sends nothing; see the privacy policy. Your save is a file on your phone that you can read yourself.
